Cellar Hand (Winery) – JOB CLOSED

If you love to work outdoors and want the opportunity to learn a new industry, then this may be the role for you!

No previous experience is necessary as you will receive on the job training!

Bass Phillip Wines, based in Leongatha, is one of the leading boutique wine producers in Australia and was the first winery to be established in South Gippsland in 1979. They have won multiple awards, including being rated in Australia’s top ten list since 2000 and has also been selected by leading reviewers as “Australian Wine of the Year”. Bass Phillip Wines are a quality business that offers young wine enthusiasts a chance to learn from the best, whilst also encouraging further study and training in the field.

They are now seeking a committed and motivated person to undertake the Cellar Hand position on a full-time, permanent basis in their Leongatha vineyard.

Not only will you learn how to create organic products in a sustainable environment, but you will also be responsible for:

• Operating a tractor and other machinery in the vineyard
• Pruning, canopy training and other manual related tasks in the vineyard
• Cleaning wine barrels and equipment and topping up the barrels
• Assisting the Chief Winemaker with wine assessment duties

Ultimately we are seeking candidates that have completed Year 12 and someone that has a high level of attention to detail as you will be working with a quality product.

It would be beneficial, however not essential, if you have completed some form of study after high school, have some experience in the tasting of quality wines and have experience on a farm as you will be required to operate farm machinery. A forklift licence would also be advantageous.

So what is in it for you? Well, apart from working for a multi-award winning wine producer that sells the product to capital cities in Australia and six overseas countries, you will also have the option to work your way up to a senior position such as a Winemaker or a Vineyard Manager. You will also be given on the job training and variety in your work each day.

If you don’t live locally, but this position still sounds appealing, then a living allowance for working week accommodation may be on offer if you are unable to move to the South Gippsland area.
Please note that due to the nature of this work, you must have a high level of physical fitness and have the ability to pass a National Police Check prior to commencement.
